How to prevent Microsoft Messenger SPAM

Messenger can be used to push IM SPAM to your desktop. Let's figure out how to shut it down once and for all.

Click Start->Settings ->Control Panel
Double click Administrative Tools
Double click Services
Scroll down and highlight Messenger
Right-click Messenger and choose Properties.
Click the stop button.
Select Disable or Manual in the Startup Type scroll bar.
