Description: U.S. State of Kansas traditional food - Kansas is the largest wheat producing state. This is why it is called the “Wheat State” and “Breadbasket of the World.” Wheat is used for many kinds of foods such as breads, cookies, cakes, pies, pastries, cereals, crackers, pasta, flour tortillas and Oriental noodles.


Recipe Ingredients

1 c. warm water
2 T. yeast
pinch of brown sugar
1 c. warm milk
1/3 c. brown sugar (packed)
3 T. melted butter
1 T. salt
1 egg
3 cups of white flour
3+ cups of wheat flour


Directions

Mix first 3 ingredients and let "proof" for 10-15 minutes.

Then add and mix the milk, sugar, butter, salt and egg.

Next add the flour, until the dough doesn't stick to the bowl

Let dough rise 'til double in size (about an hour).

Punch down dough and shape into loaves or rolls.

Bake 20 to 30 minutes at 350F.
