Home Sweet Home On Update Sunday !

Posted by NickTheGreek, 4 Jul 2010, 03:36 AM

came back after a nice vacation since Friday 25th of June only to discover i had so many nice & interesting updates :

1. Philips released a new firmware for the 42PFL9803H/10 as you can see here

It seems they are working hard to fix incompatibility issues with Greece Digea system, issues that caused even MPEG-4 capable TVs to lack image on new digital channels in Greece. On the other hand,

Sony PlayTV works great, you can use your PS3 as a PVR with the builtin hard disc ( i advise you to upgrade to at least 250GB though for serious use ), Cell upscaling to 1080p is amazing and you can watch TV via PSP, Sony Ericsson Aino or a Sony VAIO laptop via RemotePlay ( but we will get back to that soon )

2. More Updates : Sony PS3 firmware 3.40 is out !

i am a bulky PS3 owners, never liked the Slim edition much !

careful people, this one is a good one, no alternative OS disabling this time, new features emerge, like photo & video sharing and uploading to Picasa, YouTube & Facebook !

More info can be found here

"Finally the Play Station 3 update 3.40 is out. Sony has unveiled PS3 3.40, a paid service for PS3 owners. The updated version of PS3 software comes with arrays of new features that include revamped Photo Gallery, Video Editor and Uploader, downloading free games, five star rating etc.
1. Five Star Rating

When you are done with downloading PS3 firmware update 3.4, you will come across a rating system. You can rate the PlayStation game you have purchased with one to five star ratings.
2. Photo Gallery

With PS3 3.40, you can share photos on Facebook and Picasa. In addition, you can print photos directly from the Photo Gallery and also share photos with your PSN friends.
3. Video Editor and Video Uploader

The new feature found on the PS3 3.40 enables you to edit and save video files before uploading them to Facebook or YouTube.
4. Power Saving settings

Power saving is another important feature of PS3 3.40. The default auto-off, which is set at two hours will provide you with additional power save options and more improved power saving options.
5. Play Station Plus

The avid users of Play station will be delighted to find exclusive features and content with PS3 3.40. They will gather all together a different gaming experience with the new version of PlayStation. A new service called PlayStation Plus will enable users to these activities. For this users have to purchase membership to PlayStation Plus.

Apart from the five most striking features, PS3 3.40 has lots of other features to offer you. So, download the PS3 update soon and have a rollickinggaming experience with it. Please let us know exciting features you find on PS3 3.40.
"

3. Playstation Plus : to many it would seem a waste of money for 50 euros annually but to me, who i am a regular PSN Store spender, it is worth every cent, today i purchased an annual Playstation Plus subscription and already downloaded more than 4 games for free, regular price would be equal to the subscription !

4. YourForum upgrade : it was a while now that i noticed my old D22 User Browser Detection MOD was out of order, showing Mozilla icons instead of Firefox for version greater than FF 3, so i decided to adjust code accordingly, like i did last year for www.rockhero.org, and now our community features Browser + Operation System detection code.

classical PSP - PS3 RemotePlay

5. The last one is tricky and has to do with so-long-awaited Remote Play for PC: forget OpenRemotePlay, Sony has shown all of us a road with the Sony Vaio compatibility and i will soon be testing a great patch by NTAuthority ( more info in the tutorials section of YourForum Community ) hoping that it will work as promised and that Sony will not disable it in one of the future firmware upgrades.

What else ? well, since it is almost 5am i can rest like God did on Sunday plus.smilie3.gif

Ocz 96gb Vertex Series 2.5'' Ssd

Posted by NickTheGreek, 11 Jun 2010, 01:20 PM

Today i received a nice promo email from e-shop.gr stating they offer 96GB quite fast SSD for 219 € instead of the normal 269 € price margin.

Bought, replaced my classic 5400RPM WD Scrorpio Blue 320GB HD ( smaller living space, i know ) and then GHOSTed all data to fit to the smaller 96GB volume.

Windows 7 x64 crashed at first then i swapped back to AHCI the HD settings because i needed ATA for the MultiBootUtils DVD environment, then used Windows 7 x74 installation CD to repair Windows.

It is a wonder how i managed to install Windows 7 RC ( build 7100 ) more than a year ago on that machine then upgraded to RTMS (which was not supported by Microsoft, so i built a custom INF file inside the DVD ISO ) to feature build 7600 and did not even install fresh when i swapped the HD to a smaller one...
