Christmas In The Heart

Well for the most part this holiday has been ship wrecked, thanks to my dear departed husband. But still the heart of the holiday has been picking up steam in my kids. They aren't little any more, all adults, but always your kids. And they have been trying to kick start Christmas, there was talk of a tree, there will be presents, the outside lights only need an extension cord. But no matter how my husband always tried to ship wreck the holiday, he lost this year, he lost every year since he donned his Grinch persona. One thing he never realized is that Christmas is not in the cookies, always a big free for all here as we cranked into mass production, and the kids were involved. It wasn't in the decorating, there were so many years he just would not put up the tree, and the kids did. It was not in the shopping, many years I made the gifts, and so did the kids when they were short on funds!!!
Christmas is in the heart, and when one has Christ in their heart every day is Christmas because we know the joy comes from love. God's love to send His son, and why. And the root of the naughty or nice Santa thing. What? you say? What are you talking about? Well the naughty or nice test is about the same as the Big Ten test (commandments). It is more or less pass or fail, there is no picking or choosing, and in essence no one is worthy, and that was the point, we are not worthy. There may be one child somewhere who has been good enough, oh wait, there was one good enough, the man who changed the world and life here. Jesus, the carpenter's son, was worthy. The rest of us are on the coal list for sure. And there in lies the message, and even the message behind the gifts. Who is worthy? The answer, no one. We all fall short, everyone, except THAT ONE, the one born in a manger two thousand years ago. And that is the message of Christmas, God sent His beloved Son not to teach us to live but be our sacrificial lamb, to stand in the gap, between God and man that we might again connect with our creator. No one can earn this, just as no one really deserves a visit from Santa, but God loves us just the same, and this is a gift He sent to us all.
And this Christmas my wish is that we open the gift God sent us and let it Him in to our heart. And then the real meaning of the stories and trappings will be understood, because we didn't deserve it at all!!! Yet a loving God sent His Son that He can connect with us and be one. And then every day is Christmas in the heart. God's blessing on you all.
