Yesterday, Wednesday 22 March 2006 around 10:30 am local greek time there were about 25 guests and 10-12 members online at the forum...
At 10:35 the guests were about 100 !!! At 10:45 guests continued rising to a staggering number of 500 !!!!!! This kept on and on so i did some IP research, conclusion was that 95% iof guests were originating from Bulgaria...  Could this be a very aggressive search spider ? An anonymous advertiser of our site in Bulgaria doing a very nice job ? A bug in the forum code ? A Google Pagerank level up ? I investigated the lasty option only to find in huge disappointment that our Google rankign no longer exists as 3 !!! it has been reset to 0 ... :9 no clkue how this was done, this could mean less people will join from search engines... or maybe mean nothing at all.... Anyway meantime the time was 11:00am and the guests were about 1000 which was not so assuring and satisfactory as alarming... what all those people doing to a quite unknown and small site like ours ? We will see. Only time will tell.... Meantime, i have to find a clue why this damn pagerank dropped....

Well, the only reasonable explanation is either someone re-sending his signal (someone who wanted the site's downfall) or a "classic" crash, such as the ones done by groups of hackers (not so experienced btw) who want to crash servers for fun by sheer number of visits.

the first part of the sentence made no meaning at all dear Sab... as for the second part... what you mean is a DOS attack ( DOS = Denial Of Service ) but these are old fashioned today because systems feature auto cool down features and servers rarely crash any more because of huge traffic, all they do is suspend services untill things get better...

to make things more complicated, there ahve also been incidents of image crawlers around here... it is common to see 50-100 guests all at the Gallery
currently there are 5 pages of guests online, and increasing !

it is getting common each day to have at least 1000 different guests in the Gallery... this is abisuve and i suspect that more than one image crawlers are used against us. Bandwidth consumption is outrageous
