QUOTE(morbius @ 1 Dec 2005, 01:52 AM) Problem with Firefox lies in it's modular nature. Firefox alone is very basic, but you can add it more features by using all sorts of extensions. Trouble is that when you upgrade to a newer verison (eg. 1.4 to 1.5) a lot of those extensions stop working, so you need their new versions. You actually have to do a lot of work on Firefox to finaly have a browser as good as Opera is. Opera on the other hand comes with maybe too much features that ordinary Joe doesn't care about, but you can easely disable all of those you don't need. Can't wait for version 9. Well, i can't say i agree with you. The modular concept is the basic advantage Firefox will keep against all others. You see, the plugins you named as notworking when you upgrade all get automatically upgraded and the user is prompted to upgrade either Firefox or them. And the fact that Firefox uses modules means there IS NO BROWSER worldwide with more plugins/skins available than Firefox. With the right knowledge Firefox can do things the others will try to do in some years.( the fact that my Firefox session "remembers" ALL tabs when i close it and reopens them even when the PC crashes or there is a power failure proves that ) Opera is a very attractiove product which, despite its big history, has failed in taking over the market or popularity among users. Keep this in mind too : Firefox is A LOT younger than IE & Opera. The future belongs to it ! -------------------- |
