Thanks Mak and Nick very informative posts. Over here (Australia) it was reported that the new pattern makes it harder for the goalkeeper to correctly calculate speed and trajectory of the ball thus resulting in more goals. From the results todate it seems that has been achieved, we certainly had a goal feast in the 1st round games.
