a friend downloaded the latest windows update from microsoft and after this the computer doesn't start getting a message about an winlog.dll (or exe, I can't remember) error and after that a odbc32(?) error. Any ideas?

doesn't start at all ? or it does in Safe Mode ?

as he told he gets the same message in safe mode too. he can't get into windows at all...

assuming he has no knowledge of using MultiBootUtils CD found here ... he is in bad luck. Fior if he is unable to enter windows how can he try to remedy the situation ? he definitely needs on of these :
