It would Have to be on the consumer Line Models, As i know nothing about business Line ones. anywhere From Hard Ware Support, to limited software support. Lol BTW, Most questions i can answer pretty good, as i go on this forum at work, and, well, I have all available tools here! (Even Ones you probably wont find Lol).
Only a Couple Things I need to know when you ask a question: Model of The Nb (Ex. DV5000, ZD8000, etc.), as well as the issue at hand. If it is something that there is no way it is able to be Resolved Via Chat or anything, then I will tell you the Best course of Action in Regards to it. |

10 months ago the company i work for ordered about 1000 laptops from HP-Compaq:
model is Compaq NX-8220 PM 750 i am one of the owners... but working on the tech side of the cokpany i have seen more than 7 cases of bad quyality panels , defective PSU etc... coudl it be due to the hhigh number built or that particular genre ? the onyl drawbak on the one i work on is the TFT panel : too dull image --------------------    c:\ When the going gets tough, the tough get going ... |

2 Things; first is, This would be a Business Line Model NB. Secondly, i can still probably come up with something for you anyways.
First i need to clarify a couple of things. You found 7 out of about 1000 with those issues? From what i can tell, it could be a couple of things. It is only 0.7% of the Nb's that have those issues? With alot of the Newer Models are Pumped out so Quickly, and with so many, Large Companies such as Hp, Dell, Gateway Etc. Make the Computers a little Cheaper, to compensate for the cost of making them (Labor, Taxes on Parts, Cost of Parts Etc.). People want things lighter as well, wich really degrades the Durability and Quality. Another thing it could possibly be is that particular Line, as you suggested. As I said, Im not to good with Business line NB's, so I cant really say for shure, but With some other lines of Nb's, Not Business Line, There have been Bad stretches. One particular Month/ Line Had a bad output. Also Depends on whether or Not the company Bought them stock, or individually. People Dont Normally Know that that makes a huge difference. Youll Notice Higher Quality out of Computers that are built Individually, one at a time, then hubndreds at once for one customer. The company Wants to Pump them out as quickly as possible, so they can get their money, wich reduces the quality. |

I know, thanx for the feedback.. it makes sense.
The fact that to my knowledge there are 7 laptops that went for TFT panel replacement, PSU replacement etc does not mean these would be the only... Rhe 1000 laptops were spread throughout the country and i work in the main site o i could never tell. Now, regarding the Business line that u mentioned.... how come and HP still hold and honor Compaq brand name? -------------------- c:\ When the going gets tough, the tough get going ... |

Im not quite shure what your asking. WHy dont i know anything about the Business Line NB's? And Why does HP still hold and honor Compaq Brand Name? or are you asking if they do, not why?

No, nothing meant there, i was just confused by your question. But to answer, I dont know much about Business Line NB's, as that is a toatlly seperate Department (Printers, Desktops, etc.), and i work on Consumer Line Models.
The company still holds and sells Under Compaq, Because Compaq i do beleive (Honestly im not shure) still holds rights the the Product Name. A thing to notice too, is Pavilions Tend to be more Pleasing to the Eye, Fully Featured Etc., Whuile Compaq Nb's Tend to be Cheaper, Less featured, and more simple. Of course with more junk crammed into a computer can pose more problems too... Pavilions tend to have slightly more problems based on that. Compaqs can have equal amount of problems, because they are made, and sold cheaper. |
