lowculture will always be in my mind for years to come : thiswas the first Invision Power Board i registered and noticed : i was thrilled to see such software existed ! this was back in summer 2003 i think... kUdtiHaEX was something like God to me back then...

i was a soldier, serving my duty but still had time once and then to visit lowculture : it is like you said, almost everything could be found there...

and it grew bigger and bigger untill the first crash. Then they were cautious, keeping secrets ( Igor did not allow search bots from the early beginning )

there is another reason i will never forget lowculture : Igor. He taught me the basics of IPB, he gave me the first links to step onto ( www.dscripting.com & the notorious www.invisionize.com were enough : i still use them both, sometimes it is all i need ). I was short of money when he asked for help, didn't respond. I am really sorry (and a bit offended) he feels in some way since then - if i got time back, i would have borrowed some money for him. Would be the least i could do as a payback.

later on, the site become too serbian for me to follow, majority of posts were not in english and the atmosphere changed too. I was too busy with this place too, so it was rare seeing me in lowculture...

I miss a part of me now that it is not here, i hope Igor will sort this out

Yes, too bad about LC. My own site was hosted there for a while. It was full of links for download of e-books, so it was indeed LC material. Funny, now that I've checked it out, I see that I still have pages and files from my site on my hard drive. I thought they were lost in last month's crash that destroied a partition of my hard drive.

We all know that LC was not going to last forever and that anti-piracy campain is going to come to Serbia sooner or later. First, LC was kicked out of a public server, but we menaged to colect enough money for hosting elseware. Too bad that LC went down for the last time just when I finally got an oportunity to get ISDN and use many links it offered.
In the old days we were able to almost legaly buy or sell pirate movies and games on the street. Now those days are gone, so piracy moved to the Internet and that's why sites like LC were so important.

Carefull there, Nick. Those e-books are copyrighted and by publishing them you may be inviting all sorts of trouble upon yourself. Yourforum could be closed down if they sniff you out.
I'll send you my site in an archive by e-mail. It wasn't a masterpiece of web design, it was more of my early attempt in using Flash. I was often criticized for using the red/black combination of colours, but I really can't understand people who expect a non-comercial warez site to be beautyful.

To keep you all up to date on the original story of this topic.

My first attempt to apply for a Greek visa has failed. The whole procedure is so complicated it makes you sick just thinking how far they went to keep immigrants out of Greece. They told me that I did not bring some two documents, I’ll see if I can obtain them. Main problem is they never tell you exactly what you need, every official tells you you need something different.
Once they reject you, you are supposed to wait for 3 months before you can apply again. Fortunately, I have a contact at the embassy that can schedule an appointment for me at any time. Otherwise, it takes over a month just to schedule an appointment during summer months when there are a million tourists wanting to go to Greece.
One of the things I’ll have to get for my next appointment is certificate that says that my parents are supporting me financially (because I’ve no job). But, there is no such certificate in my country! I’ll have to get something similar to it and hope for the best.
At the embassy, I was probably the one with smallest pile of papers. Some other applicants came with volumes larger than Tolstoy’s War and Peace. All together a very, very sad image.
I’m even more worried if I’m going to have all the papers for marrying when I come to Athens because I can’t just go back and get something else they ask for. I’ve already troubled my “wife” enough with gathering all the papers down there, I don’t feel comfortable with asking her for more favors. Even her willingness to help has its limitations and I would not like to cross them. I guess when she offered me help and hospitality she didn’t know how difficult is everything going to be. I had a pretty good idea.

Alright, things are now like this:
We've finished all the meriage things in Serbia and I've got a airplane ticket for Athens for Wednesday night. I might even make it to that Pearl Jam concert if I find the tickets.

But:
Greek ambassy insisted that three months have to pass between my last attempt of getting the visa, but my "wife" threatened to sue them, because they lied to us the whole way. So they've said that I should apply and that they "just might" allow me to go now and not wait three months. Λοιπον, it's in their hands now. They can eather allow me to enter now or make me wait untill the New Year. Knowing how the ambassy treated me so far, it's a pretty safe bet they will reject me again.

The funny thing is they told my "wife" that they are simply civil cervants and that they are doing things in everybody's best interests. Yeah, right!
