People have become very health conscious over the years. They have become very particular about what they eat or consume. Fat and oil must be avoided as far as possible because it adds to the calories and cholesterol. But what about taste! You can not do without that either. How can you give up on chips and French fries? But now Philips has invented a frying machine that it claims gives you that same satisfying fatty taste – but without the oil. They are using what they call Rapid Air Technology. The Air Fryer uses hot air to cook the kind of meals that would traditionally be dunked in a deep fat fryer. By circulating air up to 200C around foods like chips, chicken, fish or pastries, Philips claims to be able to brown them off nicely with up to 80% less fat. The machine doesn¢t look much different than a large rice cooker. It holds a large tray that can be removed, filled with food and put back in the fryer. The average time taken for cooking is twelve minutes. It produces a brown and crispy finish – and cuts the calories – in everything from chicken legs to scampi. A batch of handmade chips needs just half a spoonful of oil and will take 12 minutes to cook it with a crispy finish. -------------------- |
