Description:
Hi All

I usually have the computer, recyc and user files folders on the server's desktop.

With Windows 2008, like vista you could just click add desktop icons, however i can't find this option in Windows 2008 R2. I know i can drag the icons and make shortcuts to the desktop, however these act like shortcuts. I.e. if i right click on the icon it will show the shortcuts properties instead of the computer right click options like Manage and properties.

Anyone know how to switch the icons on?
Tutorial Instructions
If you click on Start and then in the search box type "show desktop icons" and then choose "Show or hide common icons on the desktop" that will give you the config screen we are all used to. This works on 2008 R2 RTM.
