This article will show you how to add a simple board legend to your website. I like having a board legend because it helps the members with what is what. Hey you have it in the forum view so why not the board index. To start of with this board Legend you need to log in to your admin CP and goto the look and feel tab. Once you have done this you can select the skin you want to edit and go to "Manage Templates & CSS" Once it loads click on the board index in the left pain then goto "Bordindextemplate" and look for the fallowing Code.
<else /> <if test="showBirthdaysAlways:|:!$this->settings['autohide_bday']"> <div id='cal_bdays' class='stats_list'> <h2>0 {$this->lang->words['birthdays_today']}</h2> <p>{$this->lang->words['no_birth_users']}</p> </div> </if> </if> and paste this code below it. <div> <h2>Board Legend</h2> <table width="600" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0"> <tr> <td><center><img src="{style_images_url}/f_unread.png"></center></td> <td><center><img src="{style_images_url}/f_read.png"></center></td> <td><center><img src="{style_images_url}/f_cat_unread.png"></center></td> <td><center><img src="{style_images_url}/f_cat_read.png"></center></td> <td><center><img src="{style_images_url}/f_locked.png"></center></td> <td><center><img src="{style_images_url}/f_redirect.png"></td> </tr> <tr> <td><center>New Posts</center></td> <td><center>No New Posts</center></td> <td><center>New Posts<br />(Sub-Forum)</center></td> <td><center>No New Posts<br />(Sub-Forum)</center></td> <td><center>Locked Forum<br />(Read Only)</center></td> <td><center>Forum Redirect</center></td> </tr> </table> </div> and if you are like me and have a top 5 affiliates you would like to add you can do this <div> <h2>Board Legend / Affiliates</h2> <table width="600" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0"> <tr> <td><center><img src="{style_images_url}/f_unread.png"></center></td> <td><center><img src="{style_images_url}/f_read.png"></center></td> <td><center><img src="{style_images_url}/f_cat_unread.png"></center></td> <td><center><img src="{style_images_url}/f_cat_read.png"></center></td> <td><center><img src="{style_images_url}/f_locked.png"></center></td> <td><center><img src="{style_images_url}/f_redirect.png"></td> <td rowspan="2"><center><a href="http://www.site1.com">Site1</a> <br /> <a href="http://www.site2.com">Site2</a> <br /> <a href="http://www.site3">Site3</a><br /> <a href="http://www.site4.com">Site4</a></center></td> </tr> <tr> <td><center>New Posts</center></td> <td><center>No New Posts</center></td> <td><center>New Posts<br />(Sub-Forum)</center></td> <td><center>No New Posts<br />(Sub-Forum)</center></td> <td><center>Locked Forum<br />(Read Only)</center></td> <td><center>Forum Redirect</center></td> </tr> </table> </div> replace the linkgs with your top 5 Buttons do work as well if you would like to add buttins instead of text but I would reccomend not to go over 5 buttons or it will strech the board legend out.
