[title]Hich Technology Shopping[/title]

A short guide byNickTheGreek

Many of us have been in the position of ready to invest (spend) some money on technology... some of us have even created a paternal behavior on shopping IT, something like a shopping therapy but without actually looking at the store windows...

Edge technology is always expensive : when new innovations come to light, it becomes cheaper... So this guide is not here to help all those die-hard gamers who will just go and buy latest hardware whatever the cost... they already know what to buy ( and they do not care if they just go and pay two times the 500$ required ( 1000$ ) just for their SLI graphics combo smile.gif ).

Too old technology costs a piece of bread but, despite of what you first think, is not as cheap as it seems - waiting more than 5 mins for a PC to load windows is quite damaging to human health in many ways :
 • it is time consuming so the money you avoided paying by gettting the ancient PC of a friend... you are losing them everyday just looking at the Windows XP boot screen... and time means money
 • it is nerve damaging to have a crashing PC or a PC that will merely allow to use it, because of its slow nature...
 • you lose track of modern software ( thus to a possibly more productive way of using your computer )
 • and finally, since you are here, you probably are a bit addicted to modern technology, have lived the experience of unpacking your brand new PC, or your newest hoem cinema... so you want to live that again !
This tutorial is an effort to help all of us save money in a realistic way : nto by just getting the cheapest chinese piece of hardware around, but taking the Overall Price Winner : the MVP of bargains...

In your quest, you must always keep in mind some criteria, apart from the tag price :

Value in Time, how long will this hardware satisfy your needs (approximately)?

Vendor / Manufacturer / Reseller Credibility, will this even work right ? If not, do we have a company wih a name to support it ? And if it is faulty, will this be replaced at once or will we be waiting for weeks for this to be replaced, although in warranty ?

Price Tag, are we getting the best offer here ? Check sites like kelkoo ( or www.skroutz.gr in Greece ) for the best price around

Compatibility, will this work with existing hardware ? If not, woudl there be any ways to implement this on a logical basis, or upgrade... or would we be better not taking this now but wait and replace the whole set ?

Experience, coudl we use it before buying it, see it working on a friend, and EVEN BETTER, read AS MUCH as we can on the Internet ?

Self honesty, do we really need it ? Is it worth for us to spend our hard won money on it ?

etc etc

I will be posting essential tips and links for future purchases, but i would also like your feedback on this...

POST YOUR COMMENTS !
