Occassionaly I get one that makes me smile. Here is the latest:
Ears A young man moved into a new apartment of his own and went to the lobby to put his name on his mailbox. While there, an attractive young lady came out of the apartment next to the mailboxes, wearing a robe. The boy smiled at the young woman and she started a conversation with him. As they talked, her robe slipped open, and it was obvious that she Had nothing else on. The poor kid broke into a sweat trying to maintain eye contact. After a few minutes, she placed her hand on his arm and said, "Let's go to my apartment, I hear someone coming." He followed her into her apartment; she closed the door and leaned against it, allowing her robe to fall off completely. Now nude, she purred at him, "What would you say is my best feature?" Flustered and embarrassed, he finally squeaked, "It's got to be your ears." Astounded, and a little hurt she asked, "My ears? Look at these breasts; they are full and 100% natural. I work out every day and my butt is firm and solid. Look at my skin - no blemishes anywhere. How can you think that the best part of me is my ears? Clearing his throat, he stammered .... "Outside, when you said you heard someone coming.... that was me."

How good was that? … the Socceroos celebrate after John Aloisi scored the winning goal in the penalty shoot-out in last night's World Cup qualifying match against Uruguay at Telstra Stadium. Australia now go through to the finals for the first time since 1974. Photo: Brendan Esposito World Cup here we come November 17, 2005 Mission accomplished! At last, at long last, after more than 30 years of frustration, tears and trauma, the Socceroos last night steamed through to next year's World Cup finals in Germany, beating Uruguay in a nail-biting penalty shoot-out. Telstra Stadium, on the edge of its seat right until Australia's John Aloisi put in the last goal, erupted in joy. "We thought it was going to happen: we've been dreaming of it for two years, and you couldn't ask for a better finish," Aloisi said. "We just can't believe it. We performed well tonight. I thought the boys went well. We were lucky to have a score in the first half." His teammates Vince Grella and Lucas Neill were equally ecstatic. "It's an unbelievable feeling," Grella said. Neill cheered: "Maybe there'll be a national day off so we can all celebrate. I'll be looking to celebrate with everybody in Sydney tonight." Right from the start it was a night of almost unbearable tension for the 83,000 crowd, swimming in the promised sea of green and gold and screaming with almost un-Australian fervour. Nerves were just as frayed for the estimated 15,000 outside Telstra Stadium watching on a big screen, and millions more watching at home and in the pub. The first goal came in the 38th minute after a mis-kick from Harry Kewell was picked up by Marco Bresciano and powered into the back of the Uruguayan net. The Socceroos kept up the pressure in the second half, outclassing their opponents every step, but they could not break the Uruguayan defence. The game went to extra time and then the dreaded penalty shoot-out. Harry Kewell took the first shot and sent it straight into the net. Uruguay's Dario Rodriguez then stepped up, but Australia's goalkeeper, Mark Schwarzer, blocked his shot. Neill and Tony Vidmar came good next but Australia lost their upper hand when Mark Viduka missed. Schwarzer blocked Uruguay's next shot and Aloisi powered in the winning goal. The Socceroos chased him half the length of the pitch in celebration. It was way past 11pm, but nobody wanted to go home. The Socceroos, ranked 54th in the world, will join superpowers Brazil, Argentina, France, Italy and England. In their only previous appearance, in 1974, in West Germany, they lost two and drew one before being eliminated. This time Australia's expensive team of European-based exiles will travel more hopefully. The win ended an era described by the late Johnny Warren as one of disinterest punctuated by "periodic bouts of intense pain, gutless blame apportionment, confusion, pathetic inaction, anger and staggering denial". Indeed, so many false dawns has Australian soccer experienced that even football's faithful, including millionaire backers such as John Singleton, have been severely tested. But this, perhaps, was the night when soccer became football, when the sceptics were won over, when "wogball", as it had once been dubbed by its detractors, finally came of age. Uncharacteristically for a man who always makes it to the big occasion, the Prime Minister, John Howard, was absent: he sent a personal apology, citing a prior engagement in South Korea. He called the result fantastic and said bosses should show some leniency today if workers did not turn up on time. The fans themselves played a blinder, being revved up regularly by Australia's supporter groups, including the Bay 23 Boys, the Fanatics and the Green and Gold Army. It might be imagined from the clamour that Australia had won the World Cup. But such is the kudos of mere qualification that Singleton was probably understating the case when he compared it to regaining the Ashes. The Sydeny Morning Herald |
