I would like to add just a few words for those who notice that their board has different rear connectors.

1. S/PDIF are hi-fi digital audio conectors. They can be optical or coaxial. They are usualy present on more expensive boards.

2. Parallel port was used for printers, but all modern printers use USB. This is an old port, but it's slowly duying out.

3. Same applies to Serial port. Older motherboards used to have two, today there is usualy just one. Simular to it is the MIDI port, used in the past for music keyboards and joysticks.

4. Most boards have both USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 ports. Diferance between those two is mainly in speed. USB 2.0 is backwards compatible with older USB standards and is also able to deliver more electricity to connected devices.

5. More and more boards come with two RJ-45 ports, alowing you to connect your computer on two separate LAN networks.

6. Audio connectors on this board are for 5.1 sound system. Different sound systems have different sets of ports. Today it's common to have a high quality audio controler integrated on a mainstream motherboard.
