I'm using Internet Explorer and I just hate it. I have no choice though, its a work laptop and I have to use what they want us to use.
My home computers all have Netscape, but remodeling my home has had them out of commission for quite some time now. I really like Netscape easier to manuever around in, and I like its options better. -------------------- Look at me now, I am the green fairy! A.K.A. the Recipe Queen, do you know why ?

I exclusively use Firefox.
Although Opera is quite interesting. I has impressive features as the zoom option and other more. I also heard that the latest edition is free.... Netscape on the other has is exactly as Opera...with other skin I even use Konqueror in my Linux machine.... Everything except IE -------------------- |

Opera rules! Each version gets better and better. And it is free since version 8.5.

using every possible alternative to IE and sometimes IE itself, i find FIREFOX the most fit solution to my needs... ( if only it would search in frames right... and Symantec Password Manager could work with that... )
anyway, i AM a Firefox fan ! like my new outfit ? -------------------- |

Problem with Firefox lies in it's modular nature. Firefox alone is very basic, but you can add it more features by using all sorts of extensions. Trouble is that when you upgrade to a newer verison (eg. 1.4 to 1.5) a lot of those extensions stop working, so you need their new versions. You actually have to do a lot of work on Firefox to finaly have a browser as good as Opera is. Opera on the other hand comes with maybe too much features that ordinary Joe doesn't care about, but you can easely disable all of those you don't need. Can't wait for version 9.
Maxton is also excellent browser, although in reality it is not a complete browser, but just a shell for IE. Maxton is what IE should have been if Microsoft cared at all about it. I don't use Maxton only because it clashes with Kaspersky AV on my machine. |

Well, i can't say i agree with you. The modular concept is the basic advantage Firefox will keep against all others. You see, the plugins you named as notworking when you upgrade all get automatically upgraded and the user is prompted to upgrade either Firefox or them. And the fact that Firefox uses modules means there IS NO BROWSER worldwide with more plugins/skins available than Firefox. With the right knowledge Firefox can do things the others will try to do in some years.( the fact that my Firefox session "remembers" ALL tabs when i close it and reopens them even when the PC crashes or there is a power failure proves that ) Opera is a very attractiove product which, despite its big history, has failed in taking over the market or popularity among users. Keep this in mind too : Firefox is A LOT younger than IE & Opera. The future belongs to it ! -------------------- |

Nick, you must keep in mind that price od Opera was 40 dollars untill recently, while all other browsers were free. That's what kept people away from it. Plus, Opera software is a small company, but still through the years menaged to inovate much more than competition. They invented tabbed browsing, to begin with.
Opera also opens all the tabs in case of a power out or crash, just like the Firefox. Opera is not open-source, but it is run by people with a vision and concern for common good. I've got nothing against Firefox. I've tried it, but it simply does not feel right to me. Opera has so much bettes cache menagement. Working with cache was a problem for Netscape, than later for Mozilla, and again for Firefox. |

I agree with the last statement, but i am afraid we are making more of a dialogue than a round debate : most people just stick to IE, there are countless times i have heard from my clients :
"And why is that any better ?" even after explaining many benefits from FF towars IE. People want ease mostly. Not even a new installation -------------------- |
