Hestia one of the most respectable goddess of the ancient Greek pantheum. Daughter of Cronos and Rea, sister of Hera, Dimitra, poseidona, zeus and ploytona, protector of the houselife and the hapiness, impersonation of honesty and stability in the marriage. As the first daughter of the master of all she was from the begining in the top of all the olympous gods

The birth of Hestia is somewhere in the begining of theogonia about the time that Ouranos was dethroned by his son Cronos the father of Hestia. Cronos wanted to ensure his throne and to destroy the only threat - his kids - decided to swallow and eat his kids, all except Zeus who managed to escape with the help of his mother Rea who didnt want her kids to be eaten. After Zeus managed to trick him and free his brothers

Hestia thanked Zeus for the good he had done for her and she helped him establish his kingdom on the sky by helping him destroy the Gigantes (=giants)

Dias was very pleased about that, so he nominated her as goddess of Olympous. She had also the benefit that she could have whatever she wanted with or without Zeus aproval. Also the benefit to be honored in every temple of any god, and all her temples to be a common "house" for all the Greeks. She was the most humble and also the most fairly of all the gods of Olympous

Humble as she was she had no affairs at all. She was the goddess of houselife but she was devoted to the vow of virginity. Many gods tried to have relations with her but everybody was taking a no for an answer. Even great gods like Posidon or Apollonas. Everybody was rejected

Hestia was a person devoted to her ideas. Faith only in the idea of the stability in life and in the holiness of the houselife

Only one night when she was drunk from a party that gods had, Priapos tried to rape her but she was saved. She was never leaving Olympous like other gods. Because of the humbleness she had she never took place in wars

She was fair, that's why she was devoted to what she did. She was representing the house, the family and the strong relations that families have and the stability that bring in life

They say that she helped the humans built the first house. because she represented the union of the family, they worshiped her in the fireplace, the place that all the family was all around together


Hestia was not just a goddess that her powers were only around the house. Her meaning and her relevance soon spread wide, not only in the house but in the earth and the whole universe
