The Structure Of Megalithics In Mani

Mani is a Greek vilage that fascinates with the dynamism of the landscape and the variform of its history. The megaliths monuments of this region remains unexploited and many people don't even know about their existence. However those monuments connect Mani with a wider system of monuments to other regions in Mediteranean area which are called "The civilization of the Megaliths".

We can see strange buildings in the inland of Mani, at Aposkiaderi as it called by the natives which sets the borders from Dirros to Tainaros, that Maniates named them colossus - houses ("κολοσσόσπιτα"), huge sub - digging water - tanks ("κολογιστέρνες"), and ....menirs. The area from Koita to Tainaros, especially Kipoula, with its numerous vilages, is studded with those buildings, while menirs are in more inaccessible teritories.

There are very few researches about those construction, and some others are distroying with the passing of years. Quite a few colossus - houses made into archaic temples and later into christian temples. Therefore we see christianic chappels with a megalithic three - stone in their sanctum. This is a significant phainomeno, because it shows the evolution and the historical continuity of the people of Mani. The megalithic structures of Mani are aged since 2000B.C and they atributed to people with strong nautical activities....
