[quote]Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 smashes entertainment launch recordsCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 sells more than 6.5m copies within 24 hours of its launch, earning an estimated $400m in sales “Kickwhatta?”
Kickstarter, it's... well it's this: http://www.kickstarter.com/. Ok, if you're too lazy for links right now, it's a fund raising site for creative projects. It gives you the means to raise money from donations so you can complete your whatever project (really, absolutely any kind of project, music, writing, comics, design, anything you can think of). “Riiight. And who's Tim?” Tim Schafer, man! “Who the f***'s that?” The guy who made some of the coolest games evah (yes, evah), he was the co-creator of the first two Monkey Island games and Day of the Tentacle, he's the guy behind Full Throttle, Grim Fandango, Psychonauts and Brutal Legend. “What the hell's Monkey Island? Some kind of zoo sim?” Get the f*** outta here mate, this post's not for you. By the way, there's a three-headed monkey behind you. Now then... long story short, Tim Schafer wanted to make a brand new old-school point n' click adventure game. Together with Ron Gilbert (v. Monkey Island 1 &2, he practically invented this type of game). Of course, no publisher was going to give them money to make a damn game that doesn't make graphics cards moan, thus a fund raising campaign begun on Kickstarter a little more than a week ago. The goal was to raise 400k dollaren. Guess what... they've now reached almost 2 million dollars (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/667108...e?ref=spotlight). The project actually hit 1 million in less than 24 hours. Does Tim kick ass or what? Actually, all the people who donated also kick ass, adventure games like Monkey Island kick ass, Guybrush kicks ass and I'm really excited since I found out about this yesterday. Check out this video to learn what this is all about and how it started, or just for the laughs. Tim Schafer's got a gift for cheering people up. And here's some more, 'cause you can't get enough.
